Our wrestling season is coming to an end. There are only 2 more opportunities to wrestle in a match.
We have one more Match Night (12.1.17) and one more Tournament (12.10.17). MATCH NIGHT INFORMATION When: December 1st, meet at Roosevelt Island F Train Station at 3:50pm or meet there Where: 345 Chambers st, New York, NY 10282 (Stuyvesant High School) Schedule: 4:30pm – 5:00pm: Teams Arrive 5:00pm – 5:300pm: Welcome, School Intro 5:30pm – 5:45pm: Warm-Up 5:45pm – 6:30pm: A vs. B, C vs. D 6:30pm – 7:15pm: A vs. D, B vs. C 7:15pm – 8:00pm: A vs. C, B vs. D Students who want to compete must be over 65lbs and in 4th grade. Grades 5-8: Can wrestle with permission slip, no parent needed Grade 4: Can wrestle IF over 65lbs, parent has to sign AND attend meet Grades 3: Can come to watch with a parent Everyone who can compete, should compete. We must improve attendance. Go Hawks!

Parents and family enjoyed a fabulous West African Dance performance from the 3rd Grade students (and teachers!) Thanks go to Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance and 217 faculty and staff for providing a West African Dance residency to 3rd Graders. Pre-K families are invited to come play math games together. While our school is closed for Election Day, our teachers used the opportunity to spend a day training in computational thinking with visiting computer science educator, Phil Bagge at Cornell Tech.
Parents and students are invited to join the 4th Grade Math Team for a Math Workshop on Division Strategies at 7.45am!
There was such a massive turnout at the Cornell Tech Family Coding Night that a second room needed to be opened!

Spirit Week has drawn to a close, but what a wonderful week it was! All week our school was filled with smiles, laughter, and camaraderie as everyone from students to teachers and staff joined in to proudly show their School Spirit! Congratulations to the PS/IS 217 Wrestling team for taking second place at their recent competition! In addition to this fantastic result, Abdel and Lan both managed to take home individual championships after winning their matches 3-0! Awesome job to our mighty Hawks Wrestling Team!!
