In New York City, children are eligible to apply to kindergarten in the calendar year they turn five.
Each winter, the Department of Education begins accepting kindergarten applications for the coming school year. Every child is guaranteed a kindergarten placement, although you may not always get a place at your first choice.
1. Kindergarten application period runs from November 28, 2017 to January 12, 2018. To apply: schools.nyc.gov/ApplyOnline Hard copy Kindergarten Directories are available for pickup from the Main Office
2. Families will be notified of kindergarten assignments in March, 2018. **STAY TUNED FOR PS/IS 217 KINDERGARTEN TOUR DATES**
3. Pre-registration begins at assigned schools in April, 2018.
ALL FAMILIES MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, including those of children with disabilities and current PreK students. All applications received by the January 12 deadline will be treated eaqually - assignments are not determined on a first-com, first-served basis.

The deadline for applications is January 12, 2018.
