Ms. Howard teaches 1st Grade ICT.
Q1: What's your favorite thing about PS / IS 217?
I love that I can look out onto the East River from the windows in the hallways and the lunchroom! It is such a beautiful school with giant windows and breezy halls. I also love how the children in my class represent cultures from all over the world!
Q2: What's your favorite thing to eat for lunch?
I usually eat a salad. But if I could eat anything, it would be a Nutella pizza with melted marshmallows and M&M’s!
Q3: If you could trade jobs with someone else for one day, what job would you choose and why?
I wouldn’t trade my job for anything in the world! I love what I do: molding the minds of beautiful children and learning new things from them too. But, if I had to choose, I’d probably be my dog, Artie. He lives a pretty chill life, lounging around and taking long walks in the park!
Q4: What was your favorite subject when you were in elementary / middle school (depending on teacher grade level)?
I loved to write! Creative writing is one of my favorite things to do to this day. I keep a journal with me wherever I go and I jot about the interesting people I meet, the cool places I go to, and the funny things that happen to me. I try to instill that passion in my students!
Q9: If you could get every student in your class to do one thing, every day, what would it be?
Smile and laugh! I love watching my students’ faces light up every morning when I see them enter the classroom. I also love to be very silly just to get my kids to smile and laugh, even if it is at my own expense! I encourage silliness in my classroom! That is, of course, all while learning.
