Q: What is your favorite event at PS/IS 217? Aside from the music concerts and talent shows, I really love the Halloween Carnival because it's a great fundraising event and the children are having fun while being dressed in costumes. I think the students get excited seeing their teachers there, too!
What was your favorite subject when you were in elementary / middle school (depending on teacher grade level)?
When I was in elementary school, my favorite subject was Social Studies. I loved learning about different historical figures and events as well as your typical ancient history topics, such as Ancient Greece. I appreciated the multiple perspectives that were presented to me and learning about the causal relationships between particular events.
How do you get to work each day?
I usually drive to work. (However, if the road conditions are snowy, then I take a bus and the subway through Queens.)
What's the last great book you read?
I like to stay on top of what my students are reading. Lately, I've been working my way through The Heroes of Olympus series. I love that Rick Riordan weaves Greek mythology throughout the whole series.
What did you do on your summer vacation?
Every summer, I try to visit different family members and travel to one new place. One of my brothers currently works in Hong Kong so I went to visit him there last summer. Then, we went on a week-long tour of South Korea. I think it's important to stay in touch with loved ones, and to explore the world!
