Daniel Hirsch is an ESL teacher at PS/IS 217.
Q1: What's your favorite thing about PS / IS 217?
I really love working with children from all over the world. That is what makes 217 so special. I also love to see how much language they learn in such a short time and how they develop their skills an improve each day.
Q6: What's the last great book you read?
I love to read in Japanese and I love to clean and organize things. The last book I read was by Marie Kondo. And is is entitled: "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing."
Q8: What did you do on your summer vacation?
Last summer I went to Berlin, Germany to brush-up on my German. This summer I received a grant from the state department to do research in Helsinki, Finland.
Q3: If you could trade jobs with someone else for one day, what job would you choose and why?
I have always wanted to be a flight attendant. It would be cool to wake up every day in a new city and speak with people from all over the world.
Q10: What is your favorite event at PS/IS 217?
I really enjoyed the Halloween event. There was a real-sense of community and fun. The PTA did a wonderful job organizing that event.
