217 parent Benjamin Moore reports: "We are well on our way to open the 2015/16 School Year with a beautiful and fully functional library that contributes to the success of the whole child.
The two PTA weekends were a great start to the process. We accomplished our goals of:
▪ Initial culling of out-of-date and bad-repair books;
▪ Sorting and placing of the books we'll keep into their basic Dewey Decimal areas, and books which still need to be catalogued.
It was a terrific two days of work by parents, children, teachers, staff, and even outside help (including an alum!) — Thanks to everyone!
Saturday, February 28th, (mark it on your calendars!!) we will have another PTA Library Day starting at 10:00am and going to 3:00-4:00pm. This is to sort the books that have spine labels and bar codes from those that have one or the other or neither, and to further sort the books down into their exact relationship.
Week of February 22nd, Ms. Fokine is available to work with a handful of volunteers from 3:00-6:00pm in the afternoons. If you're picking your child up after school, think about staying after for a little bit in this beautiful space.
The 2/28 workday will set us up for all the scanning/cataloguing work in March, as well as will set the pattern of work for June and the summer, so we can reach our goal for Library reopening in September 2015."
