Recently, 6th grade finished reading The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, a book that follows two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs, who are divided by their socioeconomic status.
To celebrate the end of the unit, students got into the theme, dressing up as either Greasers or Socs, and enjoyed an ice cream Sunday party before watching the The Outsiders movie. This past Wednesday, the 8th grade class was lucky enough to attend WE Day - an annual celebration that brings together over 200,000 people across Canada, the US and the UK, and features an amazing lineup of world-renowned speakers and performers. This years line-up included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Martin Luther King III, Yuan Manuel Santos, Nas, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among many, many others. The WE movement is all about young people learning to develop good citizenship skills, and enabling and empowering them to take action and be change-makers both locally and globally - we are sure that our 8th grade class left WE Day full of inspiration to make a positive impact and make a difference! Last years test results for Grades 3-8 have been released.
