The 2nd Grade teachers will be holding a family math workshop focussing on addition and subtraction strategies.
Children are encouraged to accompany their parents! It was the perfect weather for the 2nd grade field trip to Roosevelt Island's Four Freedoms Park. With the Manhattan skyline providing a stunning backdrop, students enjoyed walking to the southorn tip of the Islance to visit the Memorial to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. During their trip they learned about President Roosevelt and the Four Freedoms (freedom of speech & expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear), discussed the importance of distinguishing between wants and needs, and brainstormed how they could act to give back to their community.
Not bad for a mornings work! Parents, relatives, and family friends were thoroughly entertained tonight by the music performances from Grades 2-8! Students really shone in their performances - the culmination of a years hard work in music classes. Grade 2 students gave their best choral performance, Grade 3 harmonized on the recorder, and Grades 4-8 gave some terrific band performances. Congratulations to our students on a job well done, and a big thank you to Mr Ladalia and our teachers for putting on such a tremendous show! If you would like to share your photos, please email them to psis217info@gmail.com. Grades 3-8 has started Circuit Training this week! Students will participate in circuit training for the next 6 weeks.
Kindergarten - Grade 2 have begun working with parachutes. This is a 6 week physical education unit.
