The Book of the Month tradition continues at 217! Coinciding with Unity Day, and supporting our PBIS character trait of the month - Cooperation - this month's book, Enemy Pie focuses on how perceiving people based on a single impression can often be misleading. In the book, the main character claims that Jeremy Ross is his enemy and doesn’t invite him to his birthday party, because Jeremy had laughed at him when he struck him out in a baseball game. The main character’s dad convinces him that, in order to get rid of his enemy he just needs to make an enemy pie and share it with Jeremy. While hanging out and sharing the ‘enemy pie’ (which is really a delicious pie), they bond and become friends. After reading Enemy Pie, classes discuss the moral of the story - how first impressions aren’t always correct and not to judge someone based on first appearances. Comments are closed.
