Children are encouraged to accompany their parents! Our third grade students wowed the audience of parents and 2nd grade students with a terrific African Dance performance this morning! The African Dance program is just one of the many enrichment programs that are 100% funded by the PTA! Every grade has the opportunity to participate in 1-2 of these programs each year! Don't forget to show your support and contribute to the Invest in Your Child's Success drive! The PTA’s “Invest in Your Child’s Success” campaign is the largest source of funding for the outstanding enrichment programs offered at PS/IS 217.
It is used to fund educational opportunities for our children including:
Through the funding of these in-school programs, supplies, and equipment, the “Invest In Your Child’s Success” drive helps every student. The suggested contribution for the 2018-19 year is $600 per child, but participation is MORE important than the amount. We respect that every family's circumstances are different. More than 1.2 million New Yorkers struggle to put food on their table and PS/IS 217 has joined the 36th Annual City Harvest Food Drive to help!
Over the next few weeks, students and families can donate food items to the donation bins located in the lobby. Our participation will help keep shelves stocked at food pantries and soup kitchens across NYC. Please note that City Harvest cannot accept unlabeled, or dented cans, open packaging, products that need refrigeration, homemade foods or expired products. Monday 19th, Nov is the last day to register for 217 students who would like to perform in our Third Annual Talent Show!

This morning, our Kindergarten students enjoyed the Annnual Thanksgiving Feast, like so many kindergarten classes before them! Thank you to the terrific Kindergarten Class Parents for organizing yet another wonderful Feast, and the many, many parents who cooked, baked, and contributed foods and goods, helped set up, served our students, and cleaned it all up afterwards! The PS/IS 217 PTA is very thankful to work with so many parents who are ready to jump in and help at all our events and activities to ensure our kids all have an amazing time!
