By Tram: Take the Roosevelt Island Tram at 2nd Avenue between 59th & 60th Streets. Walk northeast approximately 1/2 a mile or transfer to the free Roosevelt Island Red Bus that circulates the Island every 15 minutes.
By Bus: Take the Q102 bus towards Roosevelt Island, getting off at the Main St/Post Office stop on Roosevelt Island. The school is located across the street.
What are school hours? School starts promptly at 8:25am and ends at 2:45pm. All students are welcome to attend school for breakfast between 7:45-8:10am on school days.
How large are the classes? Our average class size is 27 students.
What is the Physical environment like? Our building is bright and modern. It boasts two state-of-the-art computer labs, band-room, full sized auditorium, gymnasium, a fully equipped science laboratory, and a library. Students are assigned lockers to store their personal belongings during school days.
Will PS/IS 217 help me get into a good high school? Yes! Our graduates have been admitted to specialized high schools including Bronx HS of Science and Brooklyn Tech, and highly competitive schools like La Guardia HS for the Arts and Talented Unlimited. The majority of our graduates are accepted into at least one of their top four schools.
Is there a Beacon Program? Our school has partnered with the Child Center of NY to create an after-school program that strengthens children and families with skills, opportunities, and emotional support to build health, successful lives.
Who is eligible for enrollment? Enrollment is open to all students residing in District 2.
